Instruction for Students with Special Learning needs
Students in my classes will learn the Same common Core standards of the course as any gr. 11 or 12 English course. All instruction is delivered through Differentiated Instruction and is modified in terms of the delivery of instruction and the student product.
To receive a grade on track for a diploma, they are expected to meet the course requirements.
Dr. Sandra Kaplan's Icons

What's an ICON? An icon is a graphic image, a small picture or object, that represents something: a thought, concept, production, action or direction. You see them everyday in stop signs, exits, etc.
I teach the students certain icons to assist and support us in our learning. Sometimes an icon might be on the board as part of an instruction. Sometimes it might help label the bulletin board. Sometimes they will use them to follow directions or label their work for me. All in all, they remind us of the type of learning that we are doing. All of this encourages SCHOLARLY BEHAVIORS in the classroom.
